Joe, Mishael, Josiah & Elijah Newell

Making plans for a return to South Africa
To reach a searching generation

The old cliche of God doesn't work on our timetable has been our own slogan this past year. However, we didn’t want to move unless we felt in our spirit a release to do so.
We would like to announce to everyone that we have accepted our next assignment. We will be returning to South Africa for our next term to pioneer a university ministry
in partnership with the South African church.
Reaching youth at the university is critical in addressing the loss of faith b
eing exhibited by the next generation. Young people everywhere are questioning faith, the Bible, and even truth itself.
In America, the Barna research group reports that 61% of US teenagers who profess Christianity, reject their faith after graduating from high school.
This generation no longer sees God, the Bible, and the church as relevant anymore. It is into this void that we must move with the truth, sincerity, love and respect.

Book of Hope continues under African leadership
One of our main goals in serving as the regional coordinators for Book of Hope this past term was to see the ministry through to a place of African leadership. With that leadership in place, an
d the ministry going strong, we felt God release us into something new. Therefore we have resigned our position as the Book of Hope regional coordinators for Southern Africa in order to make room for South African leadership. The ministry continues to grow and have a powerful impact on the next generation of African young people.
Although we are beginning anew, we are still following our call to reach the youth of the world. The challenge will be helping the national church bridge the gap between generations, especially the changes in beliefs that have occurred.
We need your help. We are responsible for raising the necessary budget to move to South Africa.

The boys are growing up fast
Yeh, they love each other.
Josiah and Elijah are very much two peas in a pod.

Both Josiah and Elijah continue to grow up faster than we can
believe. Josiah is in his first semester of kindergarten and doing very well. Siah will turn six years old on November 1st and has started playing flag football.
Elijah is growing like a weed! He has grown over five i
nches in his first four months. He loves to laugh and smile. The boy is one big tickle spot.
Already Elijah is showing signs of wanting to do what big brother is doing.

Stay connected through our Facebook group

We have just opened a Facebook group for those interested in partnering with us, or just staying informed. The group is called Reaching The South African U. If you have a heart for reaching the most faith-challenged segments of society, then this group is for you. You can share experiences and information, start discussions, and find ways to put legs on your passion.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO REACH SOUTH AFRICA

Our only obstacle to returning to South Africa, and ministering to the university, is funding. We currently have about 70% of what is needed to return to the field. Although the amount left to raise seems daunting, we believe that God likes to make a way through His people. Big tasks are best tackled one simple step at a time.
We are seeking partners to pledge $5 or $10 per month for the duration of our next term (4 years). Both one-time gifts and monthly donations are welcome and tax deductible. While this does not seem like much, it all adds up to remove this barrier. Could you spare one cup of coffee a month?

Partner with us financially - A pledge/commitment form MUST b
e filled out.
You can contact us or go to the link above.
You can donate online every month or have a automated credit card transaction through the link above.
